THREE CENTURIES OF GRAPHIC INDUSTRY
The printing department of the Museum of Industry takes you back to the print shops of days gone by. Expect a whirlwind trip through three centuries of graphic industry, from 1750 to the present day. Fascinating photographs, cleverly rendered printed matter, decorative lettering and imposing printing presses give you a sense of the (r)evolutions in graphics over the past few centuries. Instead of a typical timeline full of historic milestones, you can look forward to an interactive exhibition brought to life with countless stories.
The Museum of Industry’s collection is downright astonishing!
Passionate craftspeople and volunteers have restored and maintained all our printing presses through the years, with the result that most of our machines are in working order again today. Be sure to drop in on one of the workshops, where retired printers and young graphic artists give regular demonstrations of printing techniques.
As you go through the exhibition, you will make your own minizine.
