ZOE BELOFF
From January 30 to February 9, visual artist and filmmaker Zoe Beloff (°1958, Edinburgh) will reside in the Museum of Industry. She will be making prints for a film and art installation 'Life Forgotten'.
LIFE FORGOTTEN
‘Life forgotten’ raises the question, how does everyday entertainment bring people together? How can cinema act as a catalyst for community dialog? ‘Life Forgotten’ is about young women garment workers watching and reacting to films about working women at the dawn of the twentieth century. It is set in New York’s Lower East Side immigrant community, where there was more ‘nickelodeon’ storefront cinemas than any other place in America.
At the museum Beloff will be creating posters using printing techniques and typefaces from the period.
